Medusa

A decade or so ago playing with metals was my favorite pass time.  I really miss it, yet with raising children, a full-time design job and making jewelry at home, there’s really no hours left in the day to do more unless an entire day gets longer…oh how I wish that was the case.   The functional sculpture that I am showing below is modeled after one of my favorite mythology character, Medusa.    The candelabra was made out a forged bronze square rod that measured 6 inches before the hammer started to make love to it.  Once finished the entire piece measured 18 inches, not including the 3 1/2 inch marble base.

The art work in the background is also by me.  It is a 20 X 30 mixed media ~ charcoal, newspaper, and oil pastel crayons on Archer paper, mounted on brown paper.

Some of the photos are by Sydney ~ must check her blog out when you get a chance.
