Easter Sunday, Part I

The Easter Bonnet parade in NYC is a festive walkabout from 59th Street and 5th Avenue down to 47th Street.  It is believed that this parade has been taking place since the 1870’s.

In 1948 the great composer Irvin Berlin wrote the below in honor of the Easter Bonnet parade:

In your Easter bonnet, with all the frills upon it
You’ll be the grandest gal in the Easter parade.
I’ll be all in clover, and when they look us over
We’ll be the proudest couple in the Easter parade.
Irving Berlin‘s “Easter Parade” (1948)

I lived in NYC most of my life and this year was the first time that I attended this wonderful event thanks to the great weather we were graced with this year. There are so many pictures to share; therefore I will have the Easter post in three parts.
